The method involves determining measure (M) for severeness of inattentiveness and/or tiredness of a driver by sensory detected data, where a steering wheel angle sensor is arranged at a vehicle i.e. car. A warning (W) is output to the driver in dependence of the measure and fulfillment of a condition selected from a set of conditions (B1bisBn). Driver information is generated while an assistance device is in a passive state (Z2), when the condition is not fulfilled. The measure for the severeness of the inattentiveness and/or tiredness is steplessly displayed by a bar line display.
