The method involves partially transferring road traffic information related to specific field (G) from a traffic central component (100) to decentralized distribution components (110-115) that are designed as sign-bridges, beacons, traffic control system components or toll detection units. Road traffic information related to determined field portions (A-F) is transferred from the distribution components to a receiver of a vehicle (120). The field portions-related traffic information includes road sign data that comprises type and position of two road signs within one field portion. The field portion-related road traffic information comprises validity information that is selected from a group of spatial validity information, time validity information, vehicle-specific validity information, weather-specific validity information, environment-specific validity information or person-specific validity information. An independent claim is also included for a communication system for distributing road traffic information to receiving devices in a vehicle.
