A method and device for handover in an access point network are provided by the embodiments of the present invention, and the method includes the following steps: a source access point determines that handover is required to be performed (S101); the source access point acquires the IP address information of a target access point (S102); the source access point establishes an Iur link with the target access point according to the IP address information (S103); the source access point notifies the target access point to establish a radio link between the target access point and a user equipment (S104); the source access point deletes the radio link between the source access point and the user equipment (S105). The embodiments of the present invention solve, by enabling the source access point to acquire the IP address, the problem that the IP address is difficult to be configured manually in the access point network. In addition, the embodiments of the present invention adopt, during the process of handover in the access point network, a soft handover mode that the radio link between the target access point and the user equipment is established before the radio link between the source access point and the user equipment is deleted, thereby effectively solving the problem of high call drop rate caused by the hard handover.
