<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer system allowing a host computer to grasp the completion of a print job on a printer, without causing increase in transactions. <P>SOLUTION: In a printer system 1 with a host computer 2 connected to a plurality of printers 4, each time when a print job is completed by a printer 4 (step ST11), the number of completed print jobs is counted as a print job completion count (steps ST12 to step ST16). When a status data request command is received from the host computer 2 to obtain status data indicating the operating status of the printer 4, the print job completion count is sent to the host computer 2, together with the status data (step ST17, step ST18).
