<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of properly determining which of new paper and recycle paper is to be used to achieve effective paper saving. <P>SOLUTION: A multifunction device 75 includes: a new paper feed cassette 79a; a recycle paper feed cassette 79b; a new paper quantity detection part; a recycle paper quantity detection part; and a control part. The new paper feed cassette 79a can store a plurality of sheets of new paper. The recycle paper feed cassette 79b can store a plurality of sheets of recycle paper. The new paper quantity detection part detects a residual quantity of the new paper in the new paper feed cassette 79a. The recycle paper quantity detection part detects a residual quantity of the recycle paper in the recycle paper feed cassette 79b. The control part, based on the detection result of the new paper quantity detection part and the detection result of the recycle paper quantity detection part, selects at least one of double-sided printing using the new paper and single-sided printing using the recycle paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
