PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for an air conditioner including a handgrip device improving reliability of PL response of the entire outdoor unit by measures to convert to a noncombustible state. SOLUTION: The handgrip device 3 includes: an opening 2c; a handgrip tool 30 having an upper lock claw 3c locked on an upper lock part 2g provided at the upper edge of the opening 2c, a lower lock claw 3e locked on a lower lock part 2h provided at the lower edge of the opening 2c, a handgrip hole part 3a to which fingers are inserted and a recessed part 3b storing fingertips and protruded to inside of the opening 2c; an extension part 5 extended from the lower edge of the opening 2c to inside; and a handgrip tool cover which has a left edge lock hole locked on a left edge claw provided at the left edge of the opening 2c and a right edge lock hole locked on a right edge claw provided at the right edge of the opening 2c and is fixed to the extension part 5 to cover the extension part 5 and the recessed part 3b.
