PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current brake device for a railway rolling stock mounted with only a storage battery without requiring any other power source. SOLUTION: In this eddy current brake device, the storage battery 1 is mounted in the railway rolling stock mounted with the eddy current brake device, the storage battery 1 is completely independently operated as a power source circuit of the eddy current brake device, and storage electricity residual quantity value 7 of the storage battery 1 is monitored in preparation for electric discharge of the storage battery 1. When the storage electricity residual quantity value 7 becomes lower than a fixed value set in advance, the eddy current brake device is operated during traveling of the railway rolling stock, and the storage battery 1 of the present vehicle is charged.
