The method involves measuring humidity and air temperature in a vehicle, and determining dew-point temperature (20) by using a dew-point sensor based on the measured humidity and measured air temperature. Window pane temperature of a vehicle window pane is measured (30) and compared with the dew-point temperature. An electrically-driven auxiliary heater of the vehicle is controlled in such a manner that the windowpane temperature exceeds the dew-point temperature. The heater is controlled by the adjustment of the heater output.
