The vehicle (1) has an electric motor, and a rechargeable energy storage for supplying current to the electric motor. An interface (2) connects the energy storage to an external current source, where the energy storage is charged by a private power supply (3). A detection device documents energy amount removed from the current source and works together with a key device i.e. dongle, where the key device is provided for activating the interface. A data memory is provided for storing value of the energy amount, where the interface is designed as a plug connector. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting energy consumption of an electric vehicle.
