<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting device capable of restarting an engine by meshing a pinion gear 6 with a ring gear 25 during a deceleration period in a process where an engine stops and reducing impact produced when the pinion gear 6 is meshed with the ring gear 25. <P>SOLUTION: A stator 1 is provided with a pinion-pushing-out solenoid 8 having a function for pushing out a pinion gear 6, and a motor energizing switch 10 for opening/closing a main contact of a motor circuit. When idle stop is executed and a restart condition is established during a deceleration period in the process where the engine stops, the motor energizing switch 10 is energized by the control of an ECU after a lapse of a predetermined delay time period (for instance, 40 ms) from actuation timing of the pinion-pushing-out solenoid 8. In this case, a motor 3 does not rotate until the pinion gear 6 is meshed with the ring gear 25 so that an impactive force produced when both gears 6, 25 are meshed with each other and meshing sound can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
