PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain a plurality of captured images for generating a panoramic image with favorable image qualities. SOLUTION: A driver 12 displaces at least one of a lens unit 11a and an imaging device 21 with respect to an optical axis. A controller 50 allows the driver 12 to displace at least one of the lens unit 11a and the imaging device 21 in response to a motion of the image capturing apparatus 10. When a plurality of captured images are generated changing a shooting direction so that a panoramic image is generated from the plurality of captured images, the controller 50 displaces the positions of the lens unit 11a and/or the imaging device 21 at the start of exposure of each image to be captured in a direction based on a direction in which the shooting direction is moved and then corrects deflections due to the motion of the image capturing apparatus. In addition, a displacement amount at the start of the exposure is set in response to the length of an exposure time period so that the displacement during the exposure time period is reduced.
