PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lever type connector capable of preventing damage and deformation and having high lock retaining force. SOLUTION: The lever type connector includes: a connector housing in which a terminal of a wire terminal is received; a wire cover which is installed on a wire drawing side of the connector housing to draw a wire to the outside; a lever rotatably mounted on the connector housing, the lever moving a counter connector from a semi-fitting position to a regular fitting position by being rotated with the counter connector being semi-fitted to the connector housing; an engagement portion provided on the lever; and a locking portion provided on the wire cover, with which the engagement portion of the lever which has regularly fitted the connector housing to the counter connector is engaged. The engagement portion includes a lever claw portion, and the locking portion is provided at a top end portion of a lock arm. Either the engagement portion or the lock arm is flexible.
