PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic solution for an electrolytic capacitor, which exhibits high conductivity and high spark voltage at the same time, and an electrolytic capacitor produced using the same. SOLUTION: Specifically disclosed is an electrolytic solution for an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, which includes electrolytes (C) comprising a borate anion expressed by formula (1) and an ammonium cation (B) in an aprotic solvent (A). The aprotic solvent (A) is preferably at least one kind selected from a group consisting ofγ-butyrolactone and sulfolane, and the ammonium cation (B) is preferably an amidinium cation or a tertiary ammonium cation.
