Disclosed are a mobile terminal and a location positioning method which enable the load involved in positioning a terminal to be lessened. A GPS positioning unit (101) carries out location positioning in predetermined cycles or in accordance with the instructions of a user. As the location positioning is being carried out, a control unit (105) determines the movement state of a mobile terminal (100). When the mobile terminal (100) is stationary, the control unit (105) refers to state information stored in a state information management table (106b), and if it is determined that the mobile terminal (100) has not moved from the most recently measured location, then the most recently measured location stored in a location information storage table (106a) can be stored in said location information storage table (106a) as the current location of the mobile terminal (100).
