PURPOSE: A refrigerator and control method of the refrigerator are provided to reduce power consumption by preventing a compressor from operating in a time domain regardless of a cooling operation or a freezing operation. CONSTITUTION: Method of controlling a refrigerator comprising a compressor, evaporators and a refrigerant valve is as follows. The evaporators are connected to the compressor and the refrigerant valve guides refrigerant to the evaporators. The refrigerant valve opens to make refrigerant flow into at least the evaporator for the freezing compartment in a state of the compressor stopping. The compressor operates, the refrigerant valve is controlled so that refrigerant flows into the evaporator for the refrigerating compartment and is blocked to the evaporator for the freezing compartment. |
