The method involves requesting a state change of a transducer lockup clutch (6) from an open state into a partially or completely closed state in a drive operation. Difference rotation speed between a drive side and a power take-off side of a torque converter (2) is detected and evaluated during request for the state change of the lockup clutch. Rotation speed-relevant motor control intervention takes place depending on the evaluation of the speed. A control process of the lockup clutch is introduced under consideration of a threshold value predetermined as control difference rotation speed.
