<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device allowing a user to safely confirm the voltage reduction of a power source without being connected to a light receiving device. <P>SOLUTION: When the light source device is mounted on an endoscope body, a connection confirmation switch 24 is turned on. Then, a voltage is applied from a power source line through a fourth resistor 49 to the base of a second NPN transistor 48 and a second resistor 42 is grounded. Thus, by the combined resistance value of a first resistor 47 and the second resistor 42 and the voltage of a control voltage terminal 46e, the value of a current flowing to a light source 28 is determined. The combined resistance value of the first resistor 47 and the second resistor 42 is smaller than the value of the first resistor 47. Thus, when the connection confirmation switch 24 is on, the current value flowing to the light source 28 becomes larger than that when it is off.
