PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the drive voltage of a liquid crystal display device and to reduce light leakage in the liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and including liquid crystal molecules; a gate line disposed on the first substrate to transmit a gate signal; a first data line to transmit a data voltage; a first power supply line to alternately transmit a first voltage and a second voltage that is greater than the first voltage; a first switching element connected to the gate line and the first data line; a second switching element connected to the gate line and the first power supply line; a first pixel electrode connected to the first switching element; and a second pixel electrode connected to the second switching element. The first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode form a liquid crystal capacitor together with the liquid crystal layer. At least one of the first voltage and the second voltage is variable.
