PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for controlling an in-mold molten metal surface level in a continuous casting machine, an apparatus that accurately identifies a period of variation of unstationary bulging and that is capable of stably automatically supplying a control setting parameter. SOLUTION: The apparatus for controlling in-mold molten metal surface level includes: an opening degree control part for adjusting the opening degree of a pouring means; an outer disturbance estimating part for calculating an outer disturbance estimated value in pouring molten metal into a mold; a data acquiring part for acquiring an outer disturbance estimated value and a casting speed; an oversampling part that converts time series data of the outer disturbance estimated value to data based on a casting length and that oversamples the data to form a post-oversampling data; an FFT processing part that performs FFT analysis on the post-oversampling data and that calculates a distance frequency spectrum of an unstationary bulging generation roll pitch; and a peak detector that calculates a variable period of unstationary bulging by detecting the peak of the distance frequency spectrum and calculating the unstationary bulging generation roll pitch.
