The present invention discloses a folder transmission method and device. The method comprises: a receiving end receives a transmission request for a to-be-transmitted folder from a transmitting end; the receiving end receives the folder information of the to-be-transmitted folder sent by the transmitting end, and confirms the to-be-transmitted files; the receiving end consecutively sends a transmission request for each of the to-be-transmitted files to the transmitting end via the same network link; the receiving end receives the to-be-transmitted files sent by the transmitting end consecutively via the network link, and according to the folder information, stores the to-be-transmitted files, and generates a corresponding folder. The present invention can greatly satisfy users' needs for convenience, improve the feasibility of files transmission, and enhance the applicability of Instant Messaging (IM) software.
