The invention relates to a configuration for setting up a seat reservation system implemented using mobile handsets, which includes a broadband mobile handset, a transponder that works with the mobile handset, a GPS unit and a central server. The invention is characterized in that the mobile handset (1), whose whereabouts can be determined using the signals of the GPS unit (2a, 2b), is connected to the central server (4) via the transponder (3), there is a list of registered operators containing records stored in the memory unit (4a) of the central server (4), while the central server (4) is in a real time connection with at least one client computer (8, 9, 10) located at the operators (5, 6, 7) providing the records, in a manner facilitating the transmission of electronic signals.
