Class 52(1) Relates to articles such as handles made by moulding, casting, forging or pressing a quantity of material to desired shape between separable mould or die parts, the article being formed with two or more holes to take screws, nails or the like for securing the article to a base member, the holes being long enough to define the angle of insertion of the screws etc.; to permit withdrawal of the mould &c. parts, with their hole-forming cores, the holes must, if cylindrical, be parallel to one another and this precludes inserting the fixing screws &c. at an angle to one another. To permit this, according to the invention, each hole 12 is formed with opposite faces 18, 19 diverging fowards the attachment surface 15. As shown the other faces of the holes are parallel so that the holes are slot-like. Other cores on the other mould part form outwardly divergent outer ends 17 to the holes to receive the screw &c. heads. Guide plates 21 having apertures 22 are secured frictionally or adhesively in countersunk recesses in the surface 15, apertures 22 determining the angles of insertion of the screws etc. The faces 18, 19 may diverge as arcs or in steps. |
