摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a processing burden when presuming a magnetic pole position in a controlling device 1 of a synchronous motor 2. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic pole position presuming portion 24 presumes the magnetic pole position based on the outer-product of voltage vectors for presumption (vh&alpha;*, vh&beta;*) and current vectors for presumption (ih&alpha;, ih&beta;). Here, positive/negative of a voltage phase &theta;V (displacement amount in the supplying direction of the voltage for presumption to a true magnetic pole position) can be presumed from the positive/negative of the outer-product V&times;I. Also, the outer product V&times;I can be calculated by simple four arithmetic operations using &alpha;/&beta; axis components vh&alpha;*, vh&beta;* and ih&alpha;, ih&beta;. Therefore, the magnetic pole position can be presumed using the outer product V&times;I, which can be calculated by the simple four arithmetic operations.
