PURPOSE: A biopolymer-modified nanocarrier containing chitosan conjugated to water soluble biocompatible polymers is provided to enable imaging of tumor cells and cancer cells and photothermal therapy. CONSTITUTION: A chitosan-modified nanocarrier contains chitosan conjugated to water soluble biocompatible polymers which is cross-linked through a photo-crosslinkable functional group. The functional group which enable photo-crosslinking is a group having C=C double bond. The polymer is denoted by chemical formula 1((PC1)-(PE)x-(PPO)y-(PE)z-(PC2)). A composition for imaging in vivo tumor or cancer contains the nanocarrier. A method for preparing the chitosan-modified nanocarrier comprises: a step of preparing dispersion solution of the water soluble biocompatible polymers having photo-crosslinkable functional group; a step of preparing water soluble natural polymer dispersion solution; a step of adding an initiator; and a step of irradiating to the mixture.
