Means attachable to a rope for enabling the rope to be gripped or secured comprises a spider 10, having a number of extending arms 11 which are located between strands of rope 12 on to which slides a collar 20. The collar is rotated to prevent its withdrawal, and a clamp holds the collar between its base 30 and a hinged arm 31 which is held down by a weight 38. A staple 26 may be inserted into holes 25, 25 in the collar in order to limit its rotation about the spider. The spider may be bound on to the rope by a seizing passing through the slots 13 in the spider. |
