A boring machine spindle 1 rotatably mounted in a headstock by a bearing 3 comprises a liner 4, having a conical socket 5 for a spigot 6 of a tool arbor 7. An adapter 10 screwed into the arbor co-operates with a bayonet fitting 13 of cruciform shape, screwed into a bow bar 14. A split collar 15 secured to the draw-bar, is engaged by a spring 17 which urges the spigot 6 into socket 5. A splined bearing 18, non- rotatably supports the drawbar, and the latter is moved axially against the spring to release the arbor by fluid pressure supplied through a connection 22 and acting on a piston 19 secured to the drawbar.</p> |
