Methods for implementation precoding MIMO transmission depending on a rank are described. Every rank may be associated with at least one precoding vector or a precoding matrix, which can provide good characteristics for this rank. A transmitter can receive the precoding vector for transmission with rank-1 of first set, which includes at least one vector-column of a unitary matrix, for example the Fourier matrix. A transmitter may perform precoding for transmission with rank-1 based on the precoding vector. The transmitter may receive precoding matrix tor transmission with rank-2 basing on the precoding matrix. For transmission with rank-2 the transmitter may choose as a precoding matrix an identity matrix, if MIMO channel is similar to a diagonal channel (that may be determined basing on antenna configuration), it may choose the unitary matrix using an alternate method. |
