In a refrigerated motor road vehicle, the compressor is driven by an hydraulic motor supplied with hydraulic fluid by a pump driven by the vehicle engine. There may be two pumps, one for when the engine is loaded and the other for when it is idling, and the change-over may be automatic. The fluid is supplied to the motor under the control of the temperature of the refrigerated space. The motor also drives the condenser fan and a dynamo charging a battery supplying current to the motors of the fans in the refrigerated space. When the vehicle engine is not operating, an electric motor drives the compressor, dynamo and condenser fan.</p> |
