Disclosed is an image matching system for providing a new framework related to image matching. The disclosed image matching system is provided with a three-dimensional data storage means for storing three-dimensional data of a reference object; a first direction estimation means for estimating a first photography direction of the reference object matching the photography direction of an object to be matched by comparing global features in an image of the object to be matched with three-dimensional data of the reference object stored in the three-dimensional data storage means; a second direction estimation means for generating an image corresponding to the first photography direction of the reference object on the basis of the three-dimensional data, and by comparing local features in an image of the object to be matched with local features in the generated image corresponding to the first photography direction, estimating a second photography direction of the reference object matching the photography direction of the object to be matched; and an image matching determination means for generating an image corresponding to the second photography direction of the reference object on the basis of the three-dimensional data and determining whether the image of the object to be matched matches the generated image corresponding to the second photography direction.
