<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for cultivating garlic each enabling year-round cultivation of garlic sprouts. <P>SOLUTION: The method for cultivating garlic comprises: burying a garlic piece (A1) taken from a bulbous garlic (A) into a gravel layer S spread all over the inside of a cultivation box 2; and thereafter supplying nutrient solution W containing components (organic fertilizer) necessary for growth of the garlic piece (A1) to the lower layer side of the gravel layer S. The nutrient solution W is gradually sucked up by a capillary phenomenon of the gravel layer S and supplied to the garlic piece (A1), and also the air in the vicinity of the surface of the gravel layer S is cooled or kept at a temperature low enough to promote growth of the garlic piece (A1), by heat exchange caused when the nutrient solution W sucked up to the vicinity of the surface of the gravel layer S is vaporized in the air.
