<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery for lessening capacity degradation and gas generation during high-temperature storage or continuous charge, and to provide a positive electrode. <P>SOLUTION: Onto the surfaces of Li-containing transition metal oxide particles, at least one type of compound selected from a group consisting of rare earth hydroxide and oxyhydroxide is distributed and fixed. A positive electrode active material layer contains coupling agent as shown by formula (1). In formula (1), M is Al, and R1, R2 each independently show an alkyl group or an alkoxy group having a carbon number of 18 or smaller. The R1 and the R2 can be the same or different. The alkyl group and the alkoxy group can be either of normal chains or of branched-chains. n is an integer of 3 or smaller.
