PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deflector sheave of an elevator and an elevator increasing the traction of a rope without large-scale remodeling work. SOLUTION: A traction adjusting device 20 for adjusting the traction between a traction sheave and a rope is provided between a fixed member 6 of a machine room and a deflector sheave 7. The traction adjusting device 20 has a pair of jacks 41, 42 each having a first jack frame 20a connected to the fixed member 6, a second jack frame 20b connected to a member 7D for rotatably supporting the deflector sheave 7, and a rotary member 21 rotating to move the first jack frame 20a and the second jack frame 20b in the direction of separating from each other to increase the distance between the deflector sheave 7 and the traction sheave.
