PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a man-conveyor braking device capable of ensuring a predetermined short braking distance at a sudden stop without being affected by the timing of applying the brake. SOLUTION: The man-conveyor braking device stops a man-conveyor with the predetermined short braking distance when there is a high possibility that a user is directly affected, and stops the man-conveyor while preventing a user from being toppled when there is low possibility that the user is affected. The man-conveyor braking device has a disk brake for sudden stop with less slip and a disk brake for slow stop with more slip which apply brake to a transmission mechanism for transmitting the driving force to drive the man-conveyor, and a controller which operates the disk brake for sudden stop when inputting the signal from a safety circuit for detecting any abnormality of high possibility that a user is directly affected, and operates the disk brake for slow stop when inputting the signal of low possibility that a user is directly affected.
