METHOD, PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK SYSTEM AND OPTICAL LINE TERMINAL FOR ENABLING DISTRIBUTED PROTECTION

A method for enabling distributed protection includes the following steps: if an optical line terminal (OLT) line card detects the damage of a main interface or the interrupt of the service carried at the main interface, then the OLT line card implements the protection switching to switch the communication services carried at the main interface to a standby interface. A passive optical network (PON) system for enabling distributed protection includes OLTs. The OLTs include one or multiple line cards. The OLT line card is set as: if the OLT line card detects the damage of a main interface or the interrupt of the service carried at the main interface, then the OLT line card implements the protection switching to switch the communication services carried at the main interface to a standby interface. An OLT for enabling distributed protection is also provided. The present invention can avoid the single point invalidation problem caused by the complete usage of a main control switching card for enabling the protection switching in the centralized protection, and shorten the recovery time for PON protection switching services.
