The method involves determining faults of a measuring operation of an ultrasound measuring arrangement (2) a motor car (1) based on a comparison of a radius of an object with a velocity-dependent minimum radius, where the object lies in a detection area of an ultrasound sensor. The faults of the measuring operation of the arrangement are detected during excess of a threshold value for a sturgeon probability value. The faults are detected as terminated during decrease of another threshold value by the sturgeon probability value.
