The present invention provides a solar cell comprising an anode and a cathode with a photosensitive layer therebetween, wherein the photosensitive layer is at most 1000 nm thick and comprises crystalline lead oxide as a photosensitive material, wherein the lead oxide is doped with antimony and/or indium.
