<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejecting head which prevents driven deterioration of a piezoelectric layer to improve durability and a liquid ejecting apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid ejecting head includes: a pressure-generating chamber 12 communicating with a nozzle opening 21; and a piezoelectric element 300 provided with a first electrode 60, a piezoelectric layer 70 formed on the first electrode 60 and a second electrode 80 formed on the piezoelectric layer 70. In the liquid ejecting head, the piezoelectric layer 70 comprises a metal oxide containing lead (Pb), zirconium (Zr) and titanium (Ti), and has negatively charged Pb-O complex defects and positively charged Pb-O complex defects. In the piezoelectric layer 70, the concentration of the negatively charged Pb-O complex defects is higher than the concentration of the positively charged Pb-O complex defects. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
