PROJECTION IMAGE DISPLAY EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide projection image display equipment which excels in optical performance.

SOLUTION: The projection image display equipment includes: a light source; a wire grid-polarizing plate that reflects and transmits light emitted from the light source, thereby polarizing and splitting the light; and a reflective liquid crystal display device that modulates reflected light reflected by the wire grid polarizing plate and makes the light outgo, wherein the light emitted from the reflective polarizing liquid crystal display element is transmitted through the wire grid-polarizing plate and then projected. The wire grid-polarizing plate has: base material provided with a grating-shaped projection extending in a predetermined direction on its surface; and a conductor formed to extend in the predetermined direction so as to unevenly exist on one side surface of the grating-shaped projection of the base material. The wire grid-polarizing plate is arranged so that a surface side of the base material where the conductor is formed faces the light source and the reflective liquid crystal display element, and the light emitted from the reflective liquid crystal display element enters the other side surface side of the grating-shaped projection of the base material.
