The present invention relates to a picture quality evaluation method using a quantization code. The picture quality evaluation method comprises: filtering an original image and a degraded image; generating a size/phase quantization code from a result of the filtering; calculating a Hamming distance between the size/phase quantization code of the original image and the size/phase quantization code of the degraded image; and then evaluating the picture quality of the degraded image using the calculated Hamming distance. According to the present invention, pixel values of the original image and degraded image are mapped on a quantized complex plane, and then a binary code operation is carried out. Accordingly, hardware for picture quality evaluation can be easily implemented, and picture quality evaluation performance is enhanced. |
