<p>Slide hinge for a mobile device comprising a rack and pinion assembly (or a rod and a wheel engaged by frictional force), mounted on a first or a second section of the slide hinge respectively. A spiral spring (or a volute spring) urges the rack into a given direction. When the spring is tensioned, the sections of the slide hinge are locked (e.g. snap in mechanism). When the locking mechanism is released, the device is automatically opened. A longer slide stroke distance can be allegedly achieved, in contrast to current slider comprising hair pin springs; and the described arrangement requires less space.</p> |
