<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel and an electronic instrument having the touch panel. <P>SOLUTION: In the touch panel, a clearance between an upper substrate and a lower substrate is filled with an electro-rheological fluid. If there is an input from a user in a user touch surface of the upper substrate, an input location is calculated and it is determined whether the input is a continuous input. If it is determined to be a continuous input, the touch panel performs control to vary the viscosity of the electro-rheological fluid in the peripheral area of a current input location. In this process, the viscosity of the electro-rheological fluid in the peripheral area is varied between various types. Since repulsion which a user can sense through the tactile sensation is varied according to the change of the viscosity of the electro-rheological fluid, the touch panel can provide various tactile sensations to the user performing continuous input. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
