PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new yellow anionic dyes, a process for their preparation, certain new intermediates necessary for their preparation and the dyes for dyeing natural or synthetic materials, in particular, paper. SOLUTION: There are provided certain bisazo dyes of formula 1 based on diaminobenzanilide. In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>represents H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or SO<SB>3</SB>H; R<SB>2</SB>represents SO<SB>3</SB>H or CO<SB>2</SB>H; R<SB>3</SB>represents H, 1-4C alkyl, a halogen, hydroxy, 1-4C alkoxy, carboxy, NH<SB>2</SB>or NH (1-4C alkyl); R<SB>3a</SB>represents H or NH<SB>2</SB>; and A<SB>1</SB>and A<SB>2</SB>represent a certain pyrazolone or certain phenol-based derivative.
