The invention relates to a method for the wireless transmission of information via radio-electric signals between a pressure sensor fitted on a wheel of a motor vehicle and a central processing unit in said vehicle. The sensor transmits to the central processing unit signals (1, 3) representative of digital data to be transferred to the central processing unit, and a location signal (4) used by the central processing unit for identifying the wheel of the vehicle from which the data originates. According to the invention, the power of the location signal (4) is lower than that of the data transmission signals (1, 3), and/or the duration of the location signal (4) is adjusted to decrease when the vehicle speed increases. The invention can be used in systems for monitoring tire pressure in a vehicle.
