PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: If writing and reading data to/from an auxiliary storage apparatus 25 are necessary before an image data having undergone image processing in an image processing part 221 is output to a print engine part 5, a power control part 225 causes the print engine part 5 to transit from a normal power state to a power saving state before the image processing part 221 initiates the image processing.
