Disclosed is an optical connector provided with: a ferrule; an internal optical fiber of which one end is fixed to the ferrule and the other end protrudes from the ferrule; an external optical fiber of which a tip is fusion spliced to the end of the internal optical fiber which protrudes from the ferrule; and a pair of reinforcement members which sandwich and reinforce the fusion-spliced section between the end of the internal optical fiber and the tip of the external optical fiber. The reinforcement members have an adhesive layer on the inner wall which is in contact with the end of the internal optical fiber and the tip of the external optical fiber. The adhesive layer sticks to the outer peripheral wall of the fusion spliced section of the optical fibers by denting inwards where the internal and external optical fibers touch.
