PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out communication with a capsule endoscope from external equipment by a small and simple structure. SOLUTION: The capsule endoscope 10 is shadedly sealed into a cradle 20. A plurality of light-emitting elements 27 are arranged in the cradle 20 and ahead of the transparent hemispherical portion 12 of the capsule endoscope 10 so as to keep them within the angle of view of an imaging element 16. The lighting of the light-emitting elements 27 is controlled by a personal computer 31 connected to the cradle 20 via a connecting cable, and their light-emission patterns are photographed by the imaging element 16. By relating a character code to each of the light-emission patterns and photographing the light-emission pattern relatedly to the character code frame by frame, the capsule endoscope 10 receives data from the cradle side.
