The method involves determining a differential equation for a controlled variable e.g. actual current, depending on track parameters e.g. temperature-dependent resistances, and a pulse-width modulation duty factor based on a concept of electrical track. Another differential equation for a deviation between a target current and the actual current is defined. A controller equation is determined based on a determined differential equation system of second order before applied to an input output linearization principle. A current output stage (3) is actuated according to the controller equation. The track parameter is an operating point-dependent inductance or power supply voltage. An independent claim is also included for a circuit configuration for current control for inductive loads.
