<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered compact whose reactivity with a workpiece is reduced while maintaining its high strength and hardness, and a cutting tool excellent in wear resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The sintered compact comprises: cubic crystal boron nitride; a first compound; and a second compound, wherein the content of the cubic crystal boron nitride is 35 to 93 vol.%. The first compound is at least either selected from cubic crystal sialon or cubic crystal silicon nitride.
