The method includes: the slave device selects the port of a single-fiber bi-directional link to be the synchronization port of the 1588 clock protocol, specifying the work mode of the synchronization port; exchanges the 1588 clock synchronization packets with the master device through the synchronization port according to the work mode; obtains the transmitting time information according to the 1588 clock synchronization packets, recovers the system clock; adjusts the system clock according to the work mode and the transmitting time information. The device includes: a link processing module, a clock recovering module and a clock adjustment module. The embodiments of the present invention enable zero-error time synchronization. The reliability of the clock transmission is high, the measurement of the link length or the implementation for GPS measurement is not needed, the deployment of the synchronization clock is simple, the extra setting for rubidium clock is not needed, the complexity of the starting, the deployment, the maintenance and the implementation is lower, and in the case of unfixed path delay, the time synchronization can also be implemented.
