<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector, along with its control method, capable of suppressing change in display size of OSD image that accompanies adjustment of zooming state. <P>SOLUTION: When zooming state is at a telescopic end, the display size of an image displayed on a projection surface S is 1/2 the case of pantoscopic end. So, when zooming state is at telescopic end, a control unit sets the size of menu image Pm relative to input image Pi to be twice the case of pantoscopic end in terms of zooming states by setting adjustment magnification to be 2. In short, an OSD processing unit generates the menu image Pm of the size of 2M×2N and superposes it on the input image Pi.
